Safeguarding the Safety of our Parole/Probation Officers

A message from Sharlene Burris, Safe Sense, LLC Founder/CEO; 20-year veteran, Michigan Department of Corrections

Hello.

As a 20-year veteran of the Michigan Department of Corrections where I served as a MDOC Parole/Probation Manager and an adjunct self-defense trainer, I constantly had eyes on why, when, and how assaults against my colleagues and staff occurred and could be averted.  This “instinct” for safety situational awareness has been a part of my nature my entire life – it began while growing up in Detroit, MI and was reinforced while serving in the US Army domestically and in Europe.

In 2014, this “commitment” prompted me to form a company, Safe Sense, which is dedicated to teaching safety awareness skills and situational techniques that take the advantage away from those inclined to commit any kind of physical assault against another person (from a layperson to a Corrections or Law enforcement officer).   The basis of Safe Sense is a series of “guidebooks”; the first of which (naturally) is written to and for DOC Parole and Probation Officers throughout the US.

Do you find this type of guide – titled Safe Sense Field Service Safety Guide Parole/Probation Officers Edition – potentially interesting or viable? Is it the type of training material that could be included in your training curriculum - as a primary or supplemental resource?

If you're willing to consider those possibilities, please complete and submit the Contact form and let me send you a Review pdf.  Once you receive it and leaf through it, perhaps you'll be willing to share your insights and learn about the adoption process - it's easy, inexpensive, and - as reviews to date indicate - an effective value-add to your training.

"Finished your book and I learned two important things. Always have my potential clients walk me thru their home in front of me. Always observe my surroundings in each house I enter." - Sandra Weber
